Get involved! You are critical to the success of our club!
Our club runs on the efforts of our volunteers: board members, coaches and parents. We need your help! There are so many ways in which you can get involved and help out, ensuring that our club can continue to operate and have fun at the same time, and many volunteer groups have roles that will fit your busy schedule.
Below are just some of roles that need to be filled.
At Practice: Scheduled Monthly
Everyone must take turns pushing mat carts onto the ice at the start of an ice session, and taking mat carts off the ice at the end an ice session.
Parents are also scheduled to act as designated rinkside control person during practices (filling water buckets, helping with practice equipment, etc).
Ongoing: Skate Sharpening
We need help sharpening our rental skates! If you know how to sharpen skates, please sign up to be on our sharpening team.
If you have been with the club for 2+ years, we encourage you to sharpen your own skates between practices. In-person sharpening clinics will occur throughout the season. At Out-of-Town Competitions
We need help gathering A+ content for our social media pages! Email viceprez@kwspeedskating.com with your photos and short video, or to discuss being given direct access to update our social media pages.
At KWSSSC-Run Competitions and Mini-Meets
Running a competition takes a tremendous number of volunteers and there are many roles that need to be filled:
- Meet Coordinator
- Referee
- Starter
- Lap Recorder
- Judge
- Timer
- Recorder (office)
- Track Steward (on ice – great for youth)
- Results Runner (great for kids)
- Heat Box Clerk
- Announcer
- Food/hospitality room

Board of Representatives
Board meetings are held the second Wednesday of every month. All members are welcome to request to join the board at our Annual General Meeting! Email prez@kwspeedskating.com for more info.
