Learn to Speed Skate
The KW Sertoma Speed Skating Club is proud to provide a ‘Learn to Speed Skate’ program for participants of all ages in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. This is an excellent way to try out the sport we are passionate about.
Children, teens, adults and families of any ability all welcome!
Winter 2024 Learn to Speed Skate Fee is only $65!
**includes $20 insurance fee, transferrable to full membership, and entrance fee to novice-level competition Feb 1st!
Participants must be able to balance and move on skates unassisted to be eligible for Learn to Speed Skate.
Included
- Speed skate fitting and 4-session rental
- Four on-ice group training sessions with certified coaches
- Option to sign up for full season membership upon completion of the basic Learn to Speed Skate package

Saturday, January 18th: 11am-11:50am
Saturday, January 25th: 11am-11:50am
Saturday, February 1st: 11am-11:50am
Saturday, February 8th: 10am-1pm *participate in a regional level speed skating competition (beginner friendly event!)*
Our programs are not custodial. A parent, guardian or responsible adult designate is required to remain in view of the training area for any participant under the age of 10 in case of emergency.
After Learn to Speed Skate finishes, coaches will place you in the appropriate group. Children will be placed in our FUNdamentals program, but you can choose to register for 2 days per week or 3 days per week! (Monday and/or Thursday at 6pm and Saturday at 10am or 11am). Adults will be placed in the Masters program.
