FUNdamentals

FUNdamentals Program

Our FUNdamentals program focuses on Stage 1 and 2 of the LTPAD program and covers beginner skaters grouped primarily by ability, with consideration of their ages. This program is largely consisted of children and adults learning the basics of speed skating, as well as children moving into a higher level of ability that will shape the fundamentals they need to advance in the sport.

The focus in this program is learning the basics of speed skating technique, while emphasizing the fun and social aspects of the sport. Skaters in this group can also choose to compete in ability meets during the season if they wish to sign up.

We accept membership to our FUNdamentals program based on completion of the Learn to Speed Skate program.

Development Squad (D-Squad)

Our most advanced FUNdamentals form our ‘Development Squad’ (or D-Squad). This group of skaters is mastering the basics of FUNdamentals and they have the opportunity to work with the Learn to Train group once a week to further develop their skills in anticipation of the next level of ability.

Skaters participate in the D-Squad with coaches’ approval.
