KW Sertoma Speed Skating Club Summer Programs

Skating doesn’t stop for us over the summer months! Our club hosts camps and a summer ice program designed to help skaters continue practicing and honing technical skills throughout the summer. 

BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND – FUNdamentals Camp

The KW Sertoma Speed Skating Club offers an annual ‘FUNdamentals’ camp for beginner and novice participants ages 5-12 years. This is another excellent way to try out the sport that we are passionate about, or to hone the skills of younger skaters to prepare for the upcoming season. All levels of skating ability are welcome.

The 3 day FUNdamentals camp includes:

  • On-ice instruction and training sessions with certified coaches 
  • Basic dryland instruction
  • Speed skate fitting and rental if required

Fees and costs:

  • Program cost: $150 per person, skate rental included.

NEW – Your Turn 2 Train Camp

New in 2018 is our ‘Your Turn 2 Train’ camp for Provincial level skaters not qualified for the NextGen program. This is a camp focused on introducing skaters to high performance training with structured ice time, dryland and guest speakers throughout the camp. 

The 3 day camp includes:

  • 8 hours of on-ice instruction and training sessions with certified coaches 
  • 6 hours dryland instruction
  • Guest speakers

Fees and costs:

  • Program cost: $175 per skater

Summer Ice Program

Our summer ice program is designed to provide extra ice time off-season for our skaters who are training for provincial level competition and up.

The program includes 15 ice sessions on Tuesday nights at Activa Sportsplex in Kitchener:

  • May 15th-June 12th 5:15-7:15pm
  • June 19th – August 28th 4:15-6:15pm

Skaters are welcome to join the ice whenever they can if they cannot make it for the 4:15 start.
