2015 Andrea Blasman Award

In keeping with club tradition, on December 19th, Mitchell Schrum was presented with the Andrea Blasman award at our club holiday event. This memorial award is presented once a year to a skater who demonstrates commitment, perseverance and pride in our sport with a strong connection to family values. The Blasmans were an important part of our club’s foundation, and the award is in memoriam of Andrea Blasman who showed all these exemplary characteristics with her family on and off the ice.

This year, our club was lucky enough to have Andrea’s husband Mark Blasman on hand to present the award to Mitchell. Mark’s speech really showcased Mitchell’s drive to succeed, to overcome physical and mental obstacles and the commitment to travel across the country to compete for the sport he loves. We also heard a reminder that parents are equally important in helping our skaters to succeed, and Mitchell’s family shows equal commitment to the club and our sport. These are the many reasons why Mitchell is this year’s award winner. Congratulations Mitchell and the Schrum family on your achievement!
